Gibraltar has a variety of discos, nightclubs, pubs and restaurants all offering a lively ambience in the evening , and quite often have live entertainment. Most of the nightlife spots have similar opening hours to those in nearby Spain, where many establishments open in the evening and remain open until the early hours of the morning.

After dark, the nightlife begins at Irish Town, and informally known as "Back Street" which is at the south of Main Street's western end. Two of the livliest bars here are The Clipper, 78B Irish Town (tel. 350-797-91), and The Royal Oak, 59C Irish Town (tel. 350-717-08). Both the bars have English breakfasts served throughout the day and evening and set and have a well priced course.

Other recommended pubs include All's Well, Grand Casemates Square (tel. 350-729-87), known for its Bass beers and steak and ale pie; The Star Bar, Parliament Lane (tel. 350-759-24), said to be the oldest bar in Gib; and Lord Nelson Bar Brasserie, 10 Casemates Sq. (tel. 350-500-09), done out to represent Nelson's ship with a cloud and sky ceiling crossed with beams, containing a spacious terrace.
